This work emerged as a response to The Good Ancestor by Roman Krznaric, and explores the idea of thinking beyond our own lifetime.
This green, calling print reflects on long-term responsibility. Even when we cannot complete what we begin, our actions can still shape the future. Krznaric describes this as cathedral thinking: creating with a vision that reaches far beyond the present moment.
We are often guided by what he calls our “marshmallow brain”—drawn to what is immediate and easy. Yet we also carry the capacity for an “acorn brain”, grounded and future-oriented.
My Future Daughter is both personal and universal—an invitation to act with care, foresight, and connection. The text is addressed by Erna to her future daughter, as a woman speaking to a possible future woman, while remaining open as a wider reflection on lineage and care.
Limited edition of 100 pieces. Hand-coloured.
mulberry paper
Mulberry paper is made from the inner bark of the mulberry tree. The bark can be harvested without cutting the tree down, as it grows back over time, which makes it a sustainable material.
I love to work with this paper because it has a natural, soft feel and a slightly irregular texture. to me it looks a bit like silk — a comparison that makes sense when you think about how silkworms feed on the leaves of the mulberry tree.
For me, it’s a simple, honest material that fits well with the way I work.
