Linocut printed with oil-based ink on mulberry paper
This linocut shows a woman performing an acrobatic movement on a bicycle, carried forward by motion and balance.
The work is inspired by Amsterdam, where cycling is not only transport but a way of life—continuous movement through space, time, and connection. The figure reflects both strength and playfulness, as well as the freedom found in motion itself.
A moment of urban poetry: where body, bike, and city move as one.
mulberry paper
Mulberry paper is made from the inner bark of the mulberry tree. The bark can be harvested without cutting the tree down, as it grows back over time, which makes it a sustainable material.
I love to work with this paper because it has a natural, soft feel and a slightly irregular texture. to me it looks a bit like silk — a comparison that makes sense when you think about how silkworms feed on the leaves of the mulberry tree.
For me, it’s a simple, honest material that fits well with the way I work.
